As healthcare providers prepare their systems to meet Meaningful Use Stage 2 criteria, online access to patient records is creating new opportunities to empower and engage patients, and to enable collaboration between patients and providers.

Providers must think about how online patient portals should be designed in a way that patients will use it, and gamification is one way to engage and reward patients for taking part in their own care. Martin Sizemore, Perficient Director of Healthcare Strategy, will underscore this point during the #ePatient Tweetup at the Social Media Center on Wednesday, March 6 at 11 am.

Sizemore will moderate a discussion on how providers are designing secure and engaging patient portals for access to records, and how the world of social media – including Facebook and Twitter – is shaping patient expectations around caregiver interaction.
